Dear future and present Sailors, their parents, spouses and grandparents,
The Saratoga Sailing School (SSS), a program of The Saratoga Lake Sailing Club (SLSC), takes pride in offering you the opportunity to participate in a 60+ year history of upstate NY sailing. The quality of our learning experience provides a lifetime of recreation, the pleasure of friendships, and the satisfaction of boat handling for day sailors and racers alike. We have been teaching adults and children, for over thirty years, to enjoy the lifelong sport of sailing. A safe and comfortable learning environment - managed by responsible, experienced, instructors is our mission at Saratoga Sailing School. You will find this reflected in our US Sailing curriculum, the attitudes of our instructors and our club members as well.
The school is a program of the Saratoga Lake Sailing Club (SLSC) and is supported via dedicated volunteers. In the spirit of Corinthian values, we foster an environment of sportsmanship, teamwork, volunteerism, and the lifelong pursuit of the progression of competent boat handling - be it cruising, or one design sailboat racing. Our curriculum affords the opportunity to progress to one’s ability, instruction suited, in range, from those who have never been sailing, to those who upon learning, desire the thrill of competition. If your sailor has never been in a sailboat before, we’ll make their first experience enjoyable and safe, if your child is more confident we will challenge her. If your child/adult is anywhere in between, we have a place for him.
Our goals, at SSS include participation in higher level sailing, if not, one-design sailboat racing, integrated with the seamanship, self reliance, courage and development to succeed, on and off the water. The 2017 program is seeking to expand our efforts in regional interclub and regatta racing and cruising opportunities.
This winter we are working to enhance our existing curriculum, instructors, facilities and equipment. We have always been environmentally responsible, fun loving, and dedicated. We will also focus student training efforts on boat maintenance, storage, and repair with respect to equipment, themselves and each other. A major goal of the SSS is that our students learn to sail and contribute as an active member in a volunteer run athletic and social club.
The SSS depends upon the efforts of parent volunteers. If you have any interest in volunteering with regatta help, boat repair, transportation, logistical support, or in any capacity at all, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to summer ‘17. Hope to see you there.
